Favorite Wrestling Moments in 2011

Well, I know there's still some time left in the year, but so much has happened this year that really had me excited about being a wrestling fan, and I wanted to showcase a few of them.

1. CM Punk sounds off starting the Summer of Punk

How awesome was this. Even knowing wrestling is scripted and they wouldn't let something like this last more than two seconds if it wasn't supposed to be there, it had people talking again and created a buzz that professional wrestling has been lacking for a long, long time. It was great to see someone vent the frustration not only he was feeling, but a lot of jaded wrestling fans too.
I still get chills watching this.

2. Davey Richards wins the ROH Championship

The build up was great, the story was emotional, and the match was incredible. Davey Richards finally reached the top of the ROH ladder when he defeated his former tag team partner Eddie Edwards at Best In The World 2011 to become the Ring Of Honor Champion. The speech at the end was very moving, especially since all he said was true. I was laying in bed with the flu watching this on Go Fight Live and even as sick as I was I remember being so excited for him.

3. Daniel Bryan wins Money In The Bank

I know he is the World Heavyweight Champion right now, but this had more emotion to it. No one really expected WWE to give him the chance. When he reached up and got the briefcase after a dramatic ending, I remember having goosebumps, and being proud. This guy has worked his ass off, as have Punk and Richards as well, and it paid off.  *the video was the best quality I could find*

Other Moments

James Storm becomes TNA Heavyweight Champion - I HATE TNA and this moment was one I had to witness and was actually happy. But they fucked it all up.

CM Punk crashes comic con - It just added to the realism of the summer of punk storyline. adding to the buzz CM Punk created.

Kevin Steen crashes Best in The World - He is the Anti-Christ of professional wrestling. Such another buzz worthy moment for ROH

What were some of your favorite moments of the year?

I have high hopes for 2012, should be a good one.

Until next time, keep it rockin'

Background Noise

It's the age of the internet, right? Where do people go for their news? The Internet. They hit up TMZ or Perez Hilton so many times a day seeing how many high profiled snatches were in view for the day.

That's just sad.

A lot of people have lost the whole idea of giving a shit about what is going on in their own backyard, and they only care about following up on what is happening on the main story on US Weekly.

When you really look for it, there is coverage of talent on your area...and also, the talent is in who is covering it.

Have you been checking out Background Noise? If not I can't tell you how much you need to be checking this podcast out.

Luke James, Devin Deuville, Derrek Ord, and Jon Sangster are a group of fellas who are in touch (not like that bullshit tabloid riddled shit-zine) with what is going on in the local HRM scene and in "mainstream".

They have an opinion, a discussion and it's not fabricated shit like you see Mario Lopez (I am a Slater fan, but fuck off) or Seacrest ramble on about.

You'll hear what they say, and why they're saying it, and say "holy shit!....That's why I feel that too." I guarantee you.

It's just good to hear a real point of view on what is happening in the world.
There's too many times stuff is sugar coated because of a pay off we're not seeing.

It's sad but this is how it has become in life, "Real is Rare". "Reality" is scripted with most people, but goddamn Background Noise is a small sliver of what he have left that is real.

I have found myself, in the past few years looking for an outlet of how I feel. I mean, really, who am I? Just a guy who hosts a radio show on a small station and writes out a few opinions that he can share on twitter.....@bradfordml ;) anyways, I have been taking the train home and back to here and there's only so much music you can listen to to get you through a 7 hour ride. Thank god for twitter! Seriously! I don't know how myself and the BGN fellas got connected, but I can't thank *insert your higher power here* enough for it. Not only have I gotten through long rides but I have battled homesickness with it.

Bottom line - If you want to feel connected to an issue, feel a part of something, and not feel insulted by political bullshit, Background Noise is for you. You know what's going on and are not brainwashed by a specific party. Imagine having a conversation about a topic and not hating someone after it despite them having a different view.

I can't rave this podcast enough. Seriously! Check out their main site here

I may have to go back and edit this blog because I will be more informed on them, but go check them out right now!!!!

I'm online on twitter @bradfordml but also follow Luke of Background Noise @lukejamesbgn or Derek @derrekbgn

Ready to Ramble

I don't get on here as much anymore and I'm honestly not sure why.

A lot has happened in Pro Wrestling and I'm just going to throw some opinions around about a few stories.

Bobby Roode comes up short against Angle

Well let me be honest. I streamed this event for free...and that is actually a huge sign of me finally caring about what TNA has been doing, cause up until now, I couldn't even be bothered to do that. The build for Bobby Roode has been amazing, they were really on the right path with establishing a home grown talent. But politics again took charge and prevented a major moment from happening for a company who desperately needs one.

But it's supposed to be okay because even though Roode came up short in a fine match against an injured Kurt Angle, apparently James Storm beats Angle within minutes on Impact to become the new champion....there's the big picture, brother!

Hogan and Bischoff have this goal to swerve the IWC, and that's pretty damn sad considering Bischoff went on calling the IWC the 10 percenters that don't matter.

I'm happy for Storm don't get me wrong, I think he's awesome, but this build for Roode was too good and the flushed it down the shitter...again.

JR gets fired, again

Johnny Ace is a great character to hate. Or is that go away heat he has...either way, you just know that he's as much of a weasel behind the scenes as he is on camera, and that makes you just want to see him get his ass kicked at some point.

But the whole firing JR thing just pissed me off to where I wanted to turn the show off. I'm sick of the way that man gets treated. Whether it's on camera following a script (that he never knows about) or behind the curtain.
Vince needs to get his jollies because he wants people to know he calls the shots. The people want JR and Vince wants to stroke his ego.

Sorry Vince, JR is way better than anyone else you can bring in. Especially Michael Cole, who as a heel, dip shit character should not be your play by play commentator.

I really hope Josh Matthews gets a promotion soon. But I hope for his sake, the people don't praise him or he'll end up kissing Vince's ass on television.

The falling stock of Morrison

This poor bastard! He's talented, he's over with the fans. Sure his mic skills need ..well..a lot of work, but give him a manager or something. Oh wait, none of that matters, because he dates a girl who doesn't work there anymore, who has caused problems backstage when she was there. So, the best way to handle her issues is to not only fire her and have the problem be gone, but we'll take this could be future Champion and job him out worse than T.L. Hopper.

There's got to be more to it than that.

There's reports that his contract is almost up and he may go to TNA where he'll become Morris Johnson, or John Hennigan, or who knows what. But it'll continue the pattern of TNA where since he has WWE on his resume, he'll be pushed to the moon over their own talent. I wouldn't mind a push for Morrison there, but not because of where he came from.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see...but I don't know how much more burying I can watch.

ESPN E:60 Scott Hall Special

If you didn't see this, you can by clicking here, but it isn't the easiest thing to watch. I remember being a kid and Razor Ramon was larger than life. He was a mega star in my eyes, and a great IC Champion. He had it all.
Nowadays, he might as well change his name to Randy "the Ram". Except he still has family by his side, including his son Cody whom Hall is helping train to become a pro wrestler.

I just hope Cody sees how things went for his father and learns through him more than just how to fall on the mat.

That's my ramblings for now about what has happened in the world of Pro Wrestling.

#DearVince

Dave Lagana has been doing a great job in getting a social media movement going as far as making Professional Wrestling be a mainstream topic of discussion.

One of my favorite hashtags he started was #DearVince. I don't know how it didn't become a trending topic (or maybe it did) but it brought out some very interesting tweets.

As I've been watching wrestling lately, even me, one of the most naive fans who is willing to put up with a lot, has really been pushed to almost just turn it off. Things have not been making sense even more so than usual.

So I figured here I would just write out a few #DearVince tweet style messages questioning recent story lines.

#DearVince, how the fuck can you get a meeting with board members when in storyline you were fired?

#DearVince why the fuck are you nice to a guy who tried to steal your company's championship and who caused you to lose your job in the first place?

#DearVince, Fuck off with the JR humiliation bullshit already! I hate listening to Michael Cole, and even more so when he's just your puppet.
#DearVince quit hot shotting angles for a tv rating that never improves.

#DearVince remember when you did good ratings? there was long term booking then. is it that hard to realize that you should go back to the methods that worked?

#DearVince when are you officially changing the WWE to WCW and your last name to Bischoff?

#DearVince when people say go back to the way wrestling was in 2000, they meant in WWE not WCW.

#DearVince fuck your ego!

I could go on and on and on, but I'll save that for later

If you have any #DearVince's of your own. throw them around on twitter. And give props to @Lagana since he was the guy who started that, and #IWantWrestling.

Listen to his I Want Wrestling Podcasts too, on iTunes and also his website iwantwrestling.com

Importance of Ratings

Every week after Raw and Impact (other shows as well, but mainly these two) I and a lot of others await to see just how well did the shows do in the ratings.
Were they up? Down? The same? Are they bringing in new viewers? losing a certain demo?

I work a lot of back shifts as of late, which has resulted in me listening to a huge amount of archived Wrestling Observer Radio shows, and I heard the ratings for RAW a few years ago being in the high 3's. Today the average rating seems to be a 3.3 which is roughly 4-5 million viewers. (I'm horrible with guessing numbers like that.)

Then I got curious about what the highest rating was and looked back to see that in September of 1999, which had the "This is your life" segment featuring The Rock and Mankind pulled in an 8.4 rating with 11.5 million viewers.

What the hell happened? Where did all of those "loyal" viewers go? What made them stop watching the product?

WWE has become so obsessed with the weekly ratings, that as soon as they a drop in the ratings and analyze where they lost most viewers, that can have a dramatic effect on a Superstars push and storyline.
I can see where they're coming from, but aren't they acting too fast?

Is a weekly rating what they should be focused on mainly anyways?

I get curious when it comes to PPV buys too. WWE averages 80-100 thousand on an average B level PPV and anywheres from 350-1 million buys on a major show like Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania. What leads to a good buy rate, one would think, would be how well did they sell the event. Did they make it worth paying money for?

UFC fight night on Spike had one of their highest ratings in March of this year, with a 1.5!! Averaging 2.2 million viewers. Can you imagine if Monday Night Raw did that?? They would be re-formatting the whole show, pushes would be stalled and extreme measures would be taken.
For UFC that was a reason to celebrate. You know why? It's a free event that on paper an average fan would see as "Meh, I'm not too sure about the card. I may or may not watch." and when it comes to UFC Pay Per View, they give you the top fights you want to see, that have not been watered down, and PROMOTE THE HELL OUT OF IT like it's the biggest event you'll ever see.

UFC has had no problem breaking one million buys more than once a year. They have the promoting down. WWE could learn from them. Don't focus on weekly ratings for FREE TV!! Instead take those hours that viewers are tuning in for free and sell them on the idea that "if you think what you're seeing here is intriguing, you're going to not even want to think about not paying to see where these angles go and the matches involved."

This is all common sense that anyone can figure out, but for some reason the offices at WWE can't seem to wrap their head around it.

Ratings do not equal money.

A good way to put it is, I have nothing but free stuff on this site. No matter how many people come to this site, or click on a link to come here, I receive no money whatsoever. If I were to try and make money, I would use the free entries to promote why you should spend your hard earned money on me and whatever it is I'm selling, and make it worthwhile that the word starts to spread about it and boom! I'm making money.

That's my general thoughts on the whole idea.
As for TNA....well...they're satisfied with a 1.2 rating. Probably because UFC pulls in similar ratings, now if they could pull in UFC like PPV numbers? Well then I'll be the guy that shits golden eggs.

Just for the record, I'm aware that some of my average numbers may be a little off, but I hope you get the idea ;)

Ready to Ramble 3

Podcasting has been put on hold.

Welcome back to the blog. This segment is called Ready To Ramble, which is where I ramble about a few things going on pro wrestling.

As of writing this, there have only been four matches announced for Summerslam. I imagine at the Smackdown tapings there could be a couple of more matches announced for the card, but I am hoping that maybe they will be giving longer times to the top matches, or maybe even all of them. Realistically though, it could mean more time for stupid comedy sketches and backstage moments.

CM Punk is a gold mine. What more can I say? I've been a big Punk fan for years and years and I am so happy to see where his character is at and I hope they continue to do good business and not drop the ball as usual.

Triple H's character as the COO has been entertaining. Usually I don't care to see H show up, but now he adds to the intrigue and interest I have for WWE programming. Also, if rumors are true and there is a Triple H and CM Punk match at Survivor Series, I say Bravo!

When I think about TNA, I think wasted talent. Althought Beer Money and Austin Aries have been doing great. I want to see Samoa Joe as champ, or at least a top contender.

News Flash! Just being a big guy, doesn't mean he's championship material. I fucking hate Crimson, and do not buy into Matt Morgan. WWE has it right with this new reality era, while TNA is stuck in...well..god knows what, but they're stuck in bullshit thinking.

The recent string of talent releases put a sour taste in my mouth. But then again, I never like to see anyone lose their job. The one I hated to see the most, but knew it was coming was DH, er...excuse me, Harry Smith.
He's so talented. It's when talent like that slips through the cracks I can't help but want to scream out, "Fuck you, WWE!" I wish nothing but the best for Harry though, and I really hope he tries his hand at MMA. He would do a phenomenal job in the octagon, and I pray he does NOT go to TNA.

Colt Cabana had a dark match at last weeks Smackdown tapings. I haven't heard what the reaction to it was, but the guy is going to stay positive no matter what. I hope it isn't a one time deal, and maybe, just maybe he'll go on the road with the Smackdown crew and I'll be lucky enough to see him when they come here in September.

Be sure to check out his Art of Wrestling podcast every Thursday on welovecolt.com or on iTunes.

Daniel Bryan's new theme, Freefall by Two Steps From Hell is the theme of a champion. That's all I'm going to say about that. (Fingers crossed)

That's gonna do it for this brief segment of Ready To Ramble.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these topics or anything else. Comment below, or follow on twitter @bradfordml

In My Coma

I love twitter! What a bold, blunt way to start this off, but I really do.
There's so many interesting people I've met. So many interesting things to find out about and connections that can be made.

I don't know how in the blue hell someone randomly finds me and starts following me, but it happens, and one day I received a message saying that @IMCJasperJames was following me. So I checked it out and it turned out that this was the singer and guitarist from a Toronto based band, In My Coma.

They consist of  Vocalist/Guitarist, Jasper James (@IMCJasperJames). Vocalist/Bassist, Laura doll (@IMCLauraDoll) and drummer, Mike Paterson (@MikePaterson)

Not sure how this connection was made, but I'm glad it was, I checked out the group on YouTube and fell in love with this band.

Their debut album , "Magnets+Miracles" will be released at the end of the month, August 10th, available in iTunes. I've got an iTunes card ready for it.

This is their debut video for their song, Losing Sleep

I hope you dig this group as much as I do.

You can check out their myspace page here

Their facebook page here

Follow the group on twitter @InMyComa

I also came across a cool article on them from thepitmusic.com here

I wish nothing but big success for them, and really hope they play some shows out on the east coast. Show your support in any way you can.

Cl(ass) Acts

One thing I find very awkward to watch is when an interview just goes south. The more south it goes, the more I cringe, but at times they can be funny, and even justified as you'll see in the top two here.

You could say other ones are as well, but the top two stood out to me.

Trying to break into an industry where I will be conducting interviews at some point (at least I hope anyways) these are some examples of what can happen when you have that finger in the eye approach to interviewing, or just blatant stupidity.

Remember, when kids play sports we're teaching them to have fun and cooperation. When the media takes a shot at someones kid in such cheap fashion it makes me wonder why Gundy didn't punch them out.

Pretty crazy stuff.

Is there any interviews you've seen or heard that have just gone bad?

Boyfriend? F**k you!

Guy or girl, who has not encountered a moment like this before? Come on you know you have. We ALL have.

But how did you react? Were you nice on the outside, brushed it off and moved on? Or did you have reactions like some of these?

I love it!

Let's see how you handle it next time now.

Holy shit, I forgot how funny this is.

Depending on your sense of humor you'll either find this hilarious, or completely stupid. All that aside, the ending is pretty cool too.

And keep in mind, this has won awards.

Brand New Era

As a fan of WWE how can you complain with what has been going on as of late. Okay, okay, I understand that there is always something to be complained about.
But as for myself, I am really excited with the way everything is playing out on all fields of WWE.

Let's start with the obvious. After an awesome match on Sunday, CM Punk is the "unemployed" WWE Champion. He's playing it up big on twitter with the pictures from the Cubs game with the title, and over the next few months it'll only get better. If you are not on twitter or do not follow Punk, do so now if you want to keep up with this storyline.

Vince has been "relieved of his duties". A guy on CNBC is saying this could hurt their stock....are you kidding me? It's a storyline. Then again I guess the whole Donald Trump story hurt their stock a bit...I don't get finances. Anyway, Triple H is in his place. My dream thing is to see a Corporation/Evolution like stable led by Helmsley. Bring The Miz on board, maybe Drew McIntyre to give his career a jump start...again. Punk comes back, gets established as the big anti-corporate/Austin like face and have a good ol money feud there. I'm probably way off, but we'll see how it all plays out.

The WWE championship tournament finals are next week on Raw, with Rey Mysterio facing off against The Miz. I see Mysterio winning and Alberto Del Rio cashing in and winning. They need that quick briefcase cash in but couldn't do it at the PPV. If Miz wins, then all the power to him, I'll also be happy about that.

Christian is the World Heavyweight Champion and got it in such a sleazy fashion. Orton looked awesome when he snapped, realizing what had happened. I like the idea of Orton chasing the title, they say there's money in the chase, and these two have had great chemistry. Some people say, "another match? really?" I say bring it on. Love the matches and now the dynamic has changed.
We can't forget about the guy holding the briefcase though. Daniel Bryan. I hate to think that this could be the first guy who cashes in and loses, and I really hope that that is not the case here.
I actually marked out when I saw him grab the case as I really thought Wade Barret was going to get it towards the ends there.

With Punk as the WWE Champion, the WHC scene has been highlighted with great wrestling and Daniel Bryan holding the MITB briefcase, this could be the comeback of the in ring talent being more of a factor again.

I hope so.

Are you excited with there the WWE is right now? Are you not? Where do you want to see it all go from here?

Blast from the frozen past

Any WWE fan who was born in 1989 and sooner remember, if not actually having them, seeing the ads in the magazines of the WWE(f) Ice Cream Bars.

Look familiar?

Of course it does. And if it doesn't, you're more than likely at least familiar with the product thanks to another amazing promo from CM Punk this past Monday.

I could go on again about how amazing Punks mic work is, but then I might as well say ice is cold and fire is hot.
As soon as Punk mentioned the Ice Cream bars, they became an instant trending topic on twitter, and there is a huge demand for them.

You can contact Good Humor and tell them you want them to re-market WWE Ice Cream bars, but I believe at this time they don't have any intentions of doing so. But make your voice heard, and let's have this make a comeback.

R.A.W. Radio and Aftermath TV Show Host, Arda Ocal soon after tweeted, asking people about any old WWE(F) memorabilia  they had, and to share a picture.
I was thinking about stuff I have. Right now, it's not a lot. Mainly just shirts, but nothing rare at all.
When I was a kid though, oh how I wish I could go back in time, the action figures, the old shirts, the masks, the foam fingers. I had one specific thing though, that I wish I still had to this day, and most kids back in the day probably had a pair, especially if you are Canadian.

Bret Hart sunglasses. I loved these so much. As a fan of the Hitman, you had to have a pair of these. Sadly, I was never one of the fortunate to receive a pair from Bret Hart himself, but I purchased them at a Monday Night Raw taping back in the summer of 1997 here in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
That was the Raw where they had the first ever flag match that saw Bret, Owen and Davey Boy Smith against Steve Austin, Dude Love and Undertaker. What a great night. What kick ass shades.

Do you have any old WWE/WCW/NWA/AWA etc. items?

Tweet me @bradfordml and tell me about it or them.

Check out Aftermath on the Score Tuesdays at 6pm eastern and Fridays 10pm eastern and R.A.W. radio on Sirius channel 158 Monday nights right after Raw, or on thescore.com/radio. It's also available for download in iTunes.

CM Punk

Coming out of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk is now the number one contender for the WWE Championship.
After the match, he made the announcement that is contract expires the day after he has his title match and that he will be leaving the WWE.

Now, I have heard reports that his contract doesn't expire until September, but that he is still looking to leave for quite a bit of time.
Whether it's all bullshit, or the truth I know that every career has to come to an end at some point and I just wanted to talk a little about a guy who I proudly call my hero.

This day and age, there's not a lot of people who are in the public eye so often that aren't afraid to be themselves.

No matter what the consequences are for their words or actions, standing by ones own beliefs no matter what is just so rare, it seems.

I'm not going to give you a whole back story on the career of a man who is proud of who he is, and speaks is mind more often than a lot of people.

I'm just going to tell you why I view him as a hero and my own tie in as a huge fan.

I have been a huge fan of Punk for about 5 years now.
I was familiar with his name, but really got exposed to him when he made his way to WWE TV on ECW.

As a guy with tattoos myself, his caught my eye right away. Then, seeing his athleticism in the ring made me respect his work ethic. But too many of these guys try to be the brown nosing type who says what the audience and fans want to hear. Not Punk. Just look at his twitter feed @CMPunk. The guy is a straight shooter who will rip on people when its justifiable, not in a bully fashion.

I love it! It reminds me of myself, as anyone who works along side me at my place of employment (they don't deserve the plug) will tell you that I can be an outspoken, mouthy jerk most times. Everything I say has reason behind it, much like Punk.

When you first get a look at the guy and hear his name, most people would think "druggy". He has said that himself, but he is straight edge. No Drugs, no alcohol, no smoking. This is a lifestyle he is proud of and it has actually helped me.

Keep in mind I have the odd beer at a wedding or so, but I hit a dark, downward spiral time, and I paid for it dearly. The past is the past though, and it was CM Punk and his straightedge, hard working way that lead me away from where I was, to where I'm at. Just think, with cutting out the constant binge drinking and taking on a more active, clean lifestyle I was able to drop from 215 pounds, to now 173 pounds.
I will always praise CM Punk as a huge influence in my life and reason for getting on the cleaner, healthier path.

And although somewhere down the road, if the only time he acknowledges me is a tweet calling me dumdum or telling me to fuck off, I will always be a fan and I will say "my hero, CM Punk told me to fuck off. That is fucking awesome."

                                                      Thank you, CM Punk.

Pick up The Best of CM Punk DVD online, you can get it at highspots.com. It's a must have for any Punk fan, or any fan of just great wrestling.

I could post a video of any great matches of his, there's so many to choose from. Instead here's a flashback to when he won his first World Heavyweight Championship. I still get goosebumps.

If you have any Punk stories you want to share or just say why you're a fan of his or not, drop me a line down below, or on twitter @bradfordml

Be a Star, Vince.

WWE is heavily running ads for their Be A Star, anti-bullying campaign. Even their latest WWE Studios release, That's What I Am is about tolerance.

As a guy who was bullied in his younger days, I am behind it 100% I am totally against bullying and it's not fair that so many kids are terrified to go to school because of it. It needs to stop.

Obviously with the many characters and story lines in WWE, there of course will be the bullies doing their thing, such as the Bella Twins calling Kharma fat and saying a bunch of asshole-ish things.

Two things I want to touch on about this video. The first is at the end where Jerry Lawler was disgusted by what they said to Kharma. Good on Jerry, he's a babyface and should not tolerate that kind of stuff, right?

Now riddle me this. How good is it for two guys who kids watch every week and are fans of and cheer for to make fat jokes like that? Doesn't that go against the whole anti-bullying thing?

Going back to the first video. In Kharma's speech, she mentioned that Jim Ross said she wouldn't be a diva because she is too fat.

JR cleared this up and Kharma has stood up for him via twitter, since there was a lot of hateful tweets sent to Mr. Ross about "calling her fat"

That line was obviously fed to her and one of the bullet points she had to hit. Why? So Jim Ross would deal with all the negative comments that he got.

It's no secret that Vince McMahon gets his jollies from publicly mocking and humiliating Jim Ross.
Just go back through the past few months and look at any segment JR was involved in.

Good on WWE for promoting anti-bullying. I hope it make's positive changes all over the place.
It's just ironic that the biggest bully is the man who calls all the shots.

Lead by example Vince and Be A Star

Ready To Ramble #2

I'm pretty sure this is going to be a regular thing on my blog now.

Later this week however, I'm going to try something different. I'm going to do an audio version of it. We'll see how that goes, I look forward to your feedback, and also if you have any questions or thoughts about what's going on in Wrestling/Entertainment, send 'em along to brad.m.legere@gmail.com and I'll answer, or just read what you have to say.

Anyway, I'm Ready To Ramble.

How insane was the pop for Alex Riley on Raw last week? I loved it. I'm all for young guys getting the push and the rub. A program with Miz would work wonders for him. Sure he's still green in the ring but he's been in the ring with the top dogs, and The Miz is a prime example of a guy willing to work his ass off, and he'll be a great help to A-Ri. His mic skills are pretty good, so half the battle is won. This is going to get interesting.

R-Truth. I hope he disappoints little kids in the audience. That was priceless. As many have said, Miz had Miz girl, that kid can be Truth boy.
R-Truth get's better each week.

I've watched the Randy Savage tribute video from Raw over and over. Great job by WWE.
Also, I read Vince's article in TIME magazine. Very well done.

I love that Jerry Lawler said no matter what, he's a Hall of Famer.

Go watch some Lawler/Savage matches on youTube. Great stuff.

I'm still not watching a whole lot of TNA..or Impact..whatever they want to call it. You can call a turd a rose, but it's still that smelly turd.

So happy for Ring Of Honor being purchased by Sinclair Broadcasting and acquiring TV time. I really hope it works out well for them. I just hope also that somewhere on my Satellite network that I can get a channel. If not rohwrestling.com is the place to view.

I just started following Jay Briscoe on Twitter. You should too @jaybriscoe84 He's hilarious.

I almost wish I purchased Over The Limit to see what is being touted as a Match of The Year candidate between Randy Orton and Christian.

Then I heard about the Cena and Miz match...I'm glad I didn't order it.

Sheamus is said to get his title shot next Smackdown taping...Ugh, please don't tell me they're "saving" a Orton/Mark Henry match for PPV.

Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes. I want to see more of this. The only thing that would make it better is if the IC title were involved.

Ezekiel Jackson makes the crowd pop from a body slam? Hey, whatever works. Go get 'em Big Zeke. Although I miss the pairing of him and The Brian Kendrick.

This has been my rambling for now.
I'll be sure to update on the audio one, which should be later this week.

Savage vs. The Snake

Sadly, as we all know by now, yesterday morning, Macho Man Randy Savage died after suffering a heart attack while driving and crashed head on into a tree. He was 58 years old.

His wife suffered minor injuries, thankfully. As of writing this, she has been released from the hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with her and the rest of the Poffo family.

I had just heard an interview with Randy's brother, Lanny. He talked about how two people should be in the Hall of Fame that aren't, those two being Bruno Sammartino and Randy Savage. So true.

He also spoke of how Randy was happy in life, and very happy with where he is after living with some anger for many years. It was so good to hear.

Then yesterday happened.

I could sit here and ramble through his amazing career, but I know a hundred thousand other people and blogs will do a way better job than I could ever do.
I suggest checking out the following sites:

thepowerbomb.com
my123cents.blogspot.com
wrestlingdigest.wordpress.com
henchmanforhire.com

All fantastic sites for reading about professional wrestling.

I just wanted to share a few highlights. We all remember the Savage/Steamboat classic and when the Mega Powers exploded.

But for me, my favorite Savage feud was with Jake The Snake Roberts.

Two guys who made every feud they were in memorable. Put then together and you've got a classic.

Who can forget "the bite"?

Here's their match from Saturday Nights Main Event

Great times with two should be Hall of Famers.

RIP Randy, you gave me and all fans hundreds of great memories. There will never be another Macho Man.

A classic promo

Draft Idea

At my current place of employment, I have been subjected to working the over night shift as of late.

The sleep pattern sucks and it has ruined what little I have of a social life, but it allows me freedom of management, customers, a uniform and the best part of all, I get to listen to music and podcasts.

It's no secret (I say that a lot on here) that wrestling podcasts are my favorite and just last night I through on the first three episodes of the recently revamped Voice of Wrestling, hosted by Chris Cash and Nick Paglino of wrestlezone dot com.

They were talking about the WWE draft in one of the episodes and I got thinking of an idea, which was actually later presented by Nick.

It made me happy to know I wasn't the only one thinking this, and I doubt me and him are the only two who thought of this.

Any other professional sports draft consists of guys from the minor leagues being drafted to the major league, so why wouldn't WWE do the same sort of thing for at least two guys and girls from FCW?

I say take a handful of the top prospects there and make them eligible for the draft. Weeks leading up to the draft they could keep showing hype videos to give people an idea of what they're all about and let them build some sort of attachment. Maybe have a match between two of them for a spot on RAW or Smackdown, or the winner gets to pull a brand out of a hat and the loser goes to the other brand.

It's a fresh face that has some momentum built up behind them and actually feels like a real draft.

Imagine hype videos being show for Seth Rollins and Richie Steamboat being shown for about four weeks, showing us who they are and what they're about. Then we get a match on draft night. We see what they bring to the table and feel like we know both of them now rather than it just being two guys who we read about on the wrestling news sites.

Just an idea that popped in my head, and I don't doubt many others heads too.

Do you have any draft ideas? Does mine sound completely ricockulous? Or do you think something like that could work?

California Dreams

I don't see a whole lot of late night TV, okay, in fact I haven't been up on it for a long time, but I hear of things.

I remember when Jimmy Fallon was launching the Saved By The Bell Reunion campaign and even had the one and only Zack Morris on his show.

Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) 2009 : Late... by bonny_louise

But this one I came across, well, I don't know how I didn't hear of it. I think I was almost more excited for it, maybe because it actually happened.

California Dreams

Holy shit!, Sly still looks the exact same, maybe even younger.

Jimmy Fallon may not be my favorite actor, but he damn sure has brought a lot of memorable moments to late night TV.

Any other moments that you loved that I should check out? Pass it along.

Ready to Ramble

Well, blogger has gone through some system problems and as a result my last post has been lost and I can't remember what I said exactly, so I may repeat some things on here for it.

In Canada it's hard to watch WWE Superstars since there's no TV Deal on any networks here and apparently we can't get the videos on wwe.com ....what the hell? Anyway, I caught it on youtube, and Tyson Kidd vs. Trent Barreta is a match I would love to see a couple more times. They were incredible. Get them on Smackdown TV, WWE!

How great is it that Michael "PS" Hayes is managing Tyson Kidd? I love it! Kidd is great in the ring, and just needed that one more thing and Hayes is that missing element. It'll be interesting to see if they pair Hayes with another Superstar who is missing that one thing.

I can't get over how much I love R Truth's character. A lot of people think his promos are god awful, but I think he makes the bad material work.
Think about this for a second, you've got this "angry black man" character, and his promos are written by a bunch of white nerdy guys...Truth is making it work for what he's got

I heard reviews from the ROH show in Toronto last weekend. I wish I lived in Toronto to get to see top notch shows from top notch professional wrestlers.
Come to Halifax ROH! Please, I must see a Davey Richards match in person before I die.

Have you checked out MVP's interview with Dave Lagana or the one he did with Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas of Right After Wrestling? Do yourself a favor if you haven't and go download them now.
Check out Laganas 'I Want Wrestling' podcast and Arda and Jimmys 'Right After Wrestling' podcast.

Speaking of podcasts, The Art of Wrestling is a great listen. I don't think Colt Cabana realizes how much of a natural interviewer he is and how good he is at it. No matter the guest, the stories are awesome, funny, emotional and inspirational.

Bobby Roode is a reason to tune into TNA.

James Storm is as well, even if they're not a tag team much longer. Those guys can/should be pushed to the top in the next year or two.

Can't wait to see where the Christian/Orton storyline goes. What a kick ass TV match they had. I almost want to purchase Over The Limit to see their match...we'll see how that goes.

I wish John Morrison a speedy recovery from his neck surgery. Get well and get back fast.

A speedy recovery is wished to Shane Helms and his girlfriend who suffered a brutal motorcycle accident. I guess they're both doing a lot better, but from what they went through, still have a long way to go. Hope for all to be well with them asap.

Why isn't Daniel Bryan the Intercontinental Champion yet?

Happy Birthday Zack Ryder, well, in two days.
Have you watched episode 13 of Z !True Long Island Story! yet? Why not?? Go do it bro!

That's enough rambling for now.

The Fortunate Jobber

*This was something I wrote before in another blog of mine that I have ignored for a long time, thought I'd re-post it here*

I'm going to jump right to it, what the hell has happened to Ted DiBiase?

This guy has been getting shit on so bad, to the point of working dark matches and Superstars.

I think he is very talented, can work the mic and has great potential.

What happened to him?

Was it Maryse? Maybe, but don't think so

Is it the lack of mic time to really help him define who he is? That's a bigger role in it.

In my opinion, I think he made a decent start separating from Maryse, and he needs to cut a good, solid promo stating who he is. Get angry, show that there's a fire lit under his ass and that he is not to be taken lightly.

Maybe have a subtle face turn and get something going with Wade Barrett for the IC Championship, and have his character become the obsessed, tweener underdog constantly attacking Barrett. In the ring during his matches, backstage, in the parking lot, etc.

Of course, for this to happen, instead of DiBiase just randomly attacking Barrett and getting an assault charge, the idea would have to be pitched and Mr. McMahon would have to be cool with it. (I'm not THAT stupid.)

The Smackdown move is a great start, where will it go from here? I hope nowhere but up.

I would be down for that, but, again, what would you do? what will it take to get this underused, and currently buried talent over with the fans?
I'm very curious to hear your thoughts.

Oh, the IWC

The Internet Wrestling Community. Where to start?

I am a member of it, obviously, but so many times I am left with my hand on my forehead, quoting the Miz, "Really!?"

Everyone is easily entitled to their opinion but in some forums, I read ridiculous accusations, and far fetched booking ideas.

How many times have you seen someone say, "Wrestler A should be champion, because they are the best and Wrestler B annoys me."

Fair enough, but the follow up usually is where it goes even more into a joke. "Wrestler A should put wrestler B on the table, and have a Legend come out and beat up Wrestler B, then Wrestler A should get a ladder, and do a 1080 spin flip on them. Oh and there should be barbed wire everywhere."

Okay, so maybe there hasn't been that exact idea thrown out there, but there's been pretty damn close.

We look into things too much, think we know everything from time to time, and know how it should all be.

But we are so wrong when it comes to that.

The clear example is last Friday on Smackdown. The whole Orton and Christian thing. I was mad, yea I wanted Christian to hold it longer, but I watched it, and enjoyed the match and am really excited to see where they take this. I didn't boycott the show, nor send a hate tweet to Randy Orton nor Joey Styles (really? why pick on poor Joey) because it's scripted television, and Christian and the rest of them know where it's leading.

I asked my 7 year old nephew if he watched Smackdown and he said "Yea, Randy Orton is the new World Heavyweight Champion." I asked what he thought of that. His response was, "Well, I was cheering for them both, so it was good. I really liked the match."

Kids may cheer John Cena, but they know best. They're a clean slate who hasn't been brain washed or manipulated by a smart mark stating an opinion as if they're a vet to the business, when really all they have is a computer, internet access and a log in name.

We need to skip over the conspiracies, get over the disappointments and story lines we don't agree with, and just enjoy a great product. Be it, WWE, TNA (ugh) ROH or any other organization. Cheer who you like, boo who you don't, and just sit back, relax and be a pro wrestling fan.

Kevin Steen

I think for the most part, anyone who comes across this blog in one way or another, and is a wrestling fan, is probably familiar with well known names on the not so grand stages.

You appreciate them, you understand how hard they work, what they go through, and know that they bust their asses each time they go out to the ring no matter the crowd size.

I like to showcase different ones on here every now and then, just in case someone comes here, and is just being introduced to someone for the first time.

Kevin Steen is a Canadian Wrestler, from Quebec and also, today it is his birthday. So be sure to drop him a line on twitter @KillSteenKill.

He's wrestled for CZW, Ring of Honor, and PWG. He's a former PWG Champion, CZW Iron Man Champion and ROH tag team champion with El Generico, whom he also had feud of the year with last year.

Pro Wrestling Illusrated ranked him #54 in the PWI Top 500 last year as well.

That's just a little information I'm able to pass off about this guy, sadly as I've really been digging into the indies over the past year more so than ever, despite knowing who a lot of the guys and girls are.

Here's part of a match of his against El Generico. I'd rather just give you a taste and hopefully you'll develop enough of an appetite to buy dvds.

He furthers the stereotype that Canada produces great Professional Wrestlers.

I had a good laugh watching him try to teach Colt Cabana french.

Awesome stuff. You can also follow Colt on twitter @ColtCabana .

Drop Kevin a line, wish him a happy birthday. Support both him and Colt and all the guys and girls busting their asses trying to make a living doing what they love.

and then there's me, you can follow me @bradfordml and I don't require your money for support, we can discuss wrestling, boy meets world, It's always sunny in Philadelphia, hell, we can discuss socks and I promise I'll try to make it as interesting as I can.

Happy Birthday Kevin Steen, hope you make your way to Halifax for a show very soon.

Change for the better

Chris Jericho is no longer on Dancing With The Stars. Which is both sad and good at the same time.

Sad because he was very entertaining and actually was performing very well. Sadly, the voting audience just wasn't strong enough to keep him going.

Good because he is very entertaining, and could bring back that missing Element X that WWE is lacking right now.

Obviously he's in no rush, the guy is taking everything in, who knows what possible TV Deals were sent his way from ABC. He's still touring with Fozzy, with some Canadian dates coming up.....would love to see them add a Halifax show, just saying.

The guy is such a great self promoter, and works so hard that he does deserve everything that comes his way....every good thing, I mean.

Is a return to WWE inevitable? hopefully. He has not denied it, nor ruled it out, but has gone on record saying that he just doesn't want to return doing the same character he did when he was last there.

If there's one thing Chris Jericho is better at than the rest, it's character development.
He's always evolving and changing with the times, he keeps it fresha and always has the attention of the audience.

How will he come back? We'll just have to wait and see, but when he does, you know it will be refreshing, exciting, and something we're not expecting.

Try to imagine Promo A

Crossed with..

Promo B

It's going to be magic.

Speaking of magic, did you see Jericho on Attack of the Show this past week as Thor? Hilarious, definitely watch.

What are your hopes for Jericho? email, comment, or twitter @bradfordml. Let's hear it.

Christian/Orton Debacle

I just kind of wanted to vent my two cents on the big spoiler coming out of the Smackdown tapings.

I'm not going to lie, I was pretty angry when I read about Randy Orton winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Christian only two days (5 in TV time) after he won it. As a self proclaimed Peep, I've been waiting a long time, just like every other Christian fan, to see him finally get what he deserved for so long.

While I didn't order Extreme Rules, I read the live results and even got chills when reading Christian was the new World Heavyweight Champion. I honestly saw ADR winning it, and in some fashion have Randy Orton, most likely, bring it back to the blue brand.
Having now found out Christian would be showcased as the top guy on Smackdown, I couldn't be happier. His matches are always stellar, he's great on the mic and works his ass off every time from bell to bell.

I read the Smackdown spoilers, having heard that there was a "Major Spoiler", I couldn't help resist. I read the results of Christian and Orton's match and was mad. I was shocked and angry that after working for so long and so hard, Christian's shining moment was just a short one. Yes, even on twitter I tweeted #IWantChristian.

As of writing this I still feel down, and bad that Christians title reign was not even a week, and still feel he deserved a lengthy run, until SummerSlam perhaps. It would have been a great time to have Christian vs. Randy Orton, especially after hearing their match set for Smackdown was a fantastic match.
Then I read that the plan all along was to get the title on Orton from the start, only he would have beaten Alberto Del Rio.

Let's face it, Alberto Del Rio is a huge star on the rise, would it be good business for WWE to make their biggest prospect have a dismal title reign? Not really. In the history books, under the list of World Heavyweight Champions, Christians name will forever remain. He has moved from that list of greatest superstars to never be World Champ onto the list of World Champs. There's so many guys past and present who would give almost anything to have their name on that list.

Randy Orton has taken Edge's place on Smackdown as the face of that brand, so why wouldn't they have the face be Champ? That's just good business. Sorry, but WWE is a business and that's how they operate.

We can be hopeful that after the outcry, combined with what is said to be a terrific match could have creative thinking that a feud between Orton and Captain Charisma could be money and he could get strapped again. If that's not the case, then at least we could get him challenge for it and put on show stealing matches.

I'm a fan of both guys and really wish Christian had a better run, but Orton is the face of the brand, the face gets the title, that's Professional Wrestling Business 101.

Just wanted to vent that, thanks for your time.

(D)Evolution could get messy

There's so many movies coming out in the spring and summer that I want to see. I'm sure I will talk about them randomly throughout the coming months, but one I want to showcase right now, as a fan of the original movies, and the first remake, I cannot wait for this one.

First off, prequels like this are give a great story, cause you wonder how the hell did it become Planet of the Apes. Well here we go.

Plus it's got James Franco, and he's one of my favorite actors. So it's a win win for me, and I am very excited for August 5th

See you there?

Geordie Shore

If you're suffering from a lack of Jersey Shore, the next best cure is on the way for you.

Geordie Shore is the UK take on Jersey Shore, and by the sounds of it, aside from the accents, you're going to get a lot of the same stuff you got in Jersey.

Not sure yet if it will be shown on MTV in Canada or the US, but I'm sure you'll be able to watch on the MTV UK site.

Of course with a group such as this, you can expect catchphrases too.

"I'm as game as a badger."

and my personal favorite to help induce vomiting when need be,

"Does anybody have any sticky tape? Because I'm ripped."

It starts on the 24th this month, and if you're a fan of the Seaside gang, then you'll probably want to see the UK's take on it.

Spring Cleaning

Wrestlemania is over and Extreme Rules is now in the bag.

We had the draft, shuffled the rosters around (which could end up being pointless) and now one other annual tradition is right around the corner, and it's one I hate.

Spring Cleaning.

Each year to make room on the rosters, WWE has to make cuts. It's a sad tradition even though you see that the ones they cut usually had nothing going on anyways.

Instead of who I think they're going to cut, I'm going to list three guys who haven't been used recently but who I'd like to see make a comeback.

1. Zack Ryder - This is an obvious choice. I just don't understand how a guy who can be successful at getting himself over can still not be used on TV and ignored by the office. I pray they're going to capitalize on his online popularity and use it for his character. Currently, maybe he's not Championship material, but a serious twist on this gimmick could work. Just imagine after brutally beating someone in the ring, he has almost a psychotic look on his face, and in a creepy, breathy voice utters the phrase "woo.....woo....woo.....you know it!"

2. DH Smith - I'm surprised he hasn't shown up on my milk carton yet. It's sad he hasn't been used. Granted, splitting up tag teams usually means nothing good for at least one of the guys or girls, but remember when everyone was asking "When's Harry Smith going to get called up to the main roster?" "Harry Smith is so talented, why isn't he on Raw yet?" He needs the right story. Him and Tyson Kidd's program should have went longer, they both have amazing potential. If push comes to shove for Smith though, an MMA run would be suitable and he could be a big name there.

3. Daniel Bryan - I know he get's used way more than the two previously mentioned, but when I hear people who actually have insight into WWE and sources and whatnot, it scares me when I hear any negativity about this amazing talent. Get him out of the cheesy lady's man nerdy storyline, and make him what Chris Benoit was, a silent assassin. Give him a mouth piece such as Vickie Guerrero or bring back Armando Estrada, or there's even the chance, given the fact WWE is god awful with continuity, he could be managed by Michael Cole if Cole went that way. He comes in, destroys his opponent, submits them, and leaves.

I hate seeing anybody get released, but those are three that I really hope are not at risk and will shine more this year.

Who are people you don't want to see get let go and how would you change their characters?

What I do best

Well it certainly has been a newsworthy few days hasn't it?

We had the Royal Wedding. The end of Osama Bin Laden. The Canadian Federal Election, and of course GSP successfully defended his Welterweight Title against Jake Shields in a historic UFC Event...okay maybe I'm one of very few most focused on that one.

Either way, most people on my twitter are offering great commentaries on the results of the election and I know how I feel and what I think but I don't care to talk about it cause no matter what side of the fence I'm on, I come off as very uneducated, and I know that for a fact.

So tweet your comments to me @bradfordml cause I love hearing all sides of how people feel about that.

Also about the other events that took place that I mentioned above. Let's hear your thoughts.

Instead of sharing my thoughts on them and further proving I'm a moron, I thought I'd just do what I do best....

and post random funny videos.

These are some of my favorite old Mad TV skits from way back.

Advice for Candidates

So in Canada we have a Federal Election coming up very soon, and it seems to be nothing but a lot of attack ads by the party leaders which is completely annoying.

Tell me what it is you're going to do for me, why should you get my vote, not why someone else shouldn't get my vote.

And if you have to do a tax hike, why is it benefiting me? I know taxes will go up, but will it serve me better. Be honest about it.

I already know who has my vote, and I guess that's nothing to showboat on here, even though it's no secret really. But the guy in my area who is getting my vote is getting it because he will go against the big picture if it does not serve well with the people in his riding. He genuinely cares. A rare feat among politicians.

Anyway, that's my rambling for them trying to get the vote.

But what about the guys and girls who do win, what advice do I have for them?

Well aside from don't fuck it up, I can't think of much more on anything specific. But I can help.

Small business owners are always willing to share what they would like help with

Intelligent figures can give a great outsiders perspective

No harm in looking to the latest technology

Why not seek help from other politicians.

There you go candidates, a little advice for you.

2011 Draft Predictions

The annual WWE Draft takes place tonight on Raw.
I always look forward to the draft.

I love seeing what new feuds could take place, who's going to recieve a new push, who has the chance to break out.

I'm just gonna list 5 people for each brand. Who I see being moved and why it could happen, be good or bad.

To RAW

1. Alberto Del Rio - Let's face it, RAW is the A show. Always has been, always will be. This guy is a star and is on the rise, so why not pull the trigger and get him on the A show? I'm all for it, and to see if he moves over as the World Heavyweight Champion? Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

2. Kofi Kingston - He seems to be floundering in the mid-card role over there. If they're not gonna do anything more with him then get him on RAW. Also, if Orton is to move to Smackdown (read below) then there's more of a chance for him to not have a stalled push.

3. Wade Barret - For the love of god, get this guy away from The Corre. Get him away from any group. He's too good for it, a break out star waiting to happen. I'm glad they strapped him with the IC Title, but I see him as a main eventer not a mid-card champion.

4. Cody Rhodes - He's done such a great job going from Legacy jobber, to Dashing, to the dark, creepy, messed up psycho he is now. So many people have put his promo skills over as being reminisicent to Jake Roberts which is the highest compliment in my eyes, and I can't help but agree. Many people before, pegged him as the guy from Legacy who would go nowhere and he proved them wrong.

5. Drew McIntyre - For being the "Chosen One" he hasn't shined a whole lot on the blue brand. He needs a bit of a jump start and I think the move to Monday nights is that jump start he needs. As I and others know and said countless times, RAW is the A show and always has the stars and this guy is a star and just seems like a good fit to the red brand.

To Smackdown

1. Randy Orton - They need a top face, that's why the draft got moved to tonight. Edge's sudden retirement left a huge void in the faces of Smackdown and as much as I am a fan of Christian, they still need more. Orton's feud with Punk has just about run its course and Punk still has a lot of feuds and stuff left on RAW so they shouldn't move him back to Smackdown yet. Also, Orton is awesome but is always overshadowed by Fruity Pebbles and whatever feud he's in.

2. Daniel Bryan - Smackdown is a wrestling show. The matches are better and are more of the focus than shitty storylines. It's a perfect move for this amazing talent. I don't want to see him get lost in the RAW shuffle. Also, he can bring prestige to the IC Championship...just saying. Also go to wrestlingroaddiaries.com and pick up a copy. I got mine the other week and have watched it a few times, so worth it for any wrestling fan ;)

3. Melina/John Morrison - It's no secret about the incident with the cold shoulder JoMo gave to Trish Stratus, and I, like most believe it's because of Melinas jealousy. Split these two up to send a message to them.

4. R-Truth - I love the heel turn, and although Smackdown could use babyfaces, send them Truth and let him be a top heel.

5. Sin Cara - I know he's just new to RAW and is being pushed as a big deal. But they skipped over developmental and we're seeing the flaws with that. He is an amazing talent, but for now give him the chance to have the few botches fixed up in production and give us a Sin Cara vs. Mysterio feud while Rey is still around. Who wouldn't want to see that?

So there's 5 picks for each brand. Will I be correct with all? none? half? Tune into RAW tonight at 10pm Atlantic time on The Score here in Canda, USA in..well, USA and Sky Sports in the UK. I'm not sure of any other channels, but hell, let me know what you watch it on.

What are your draft predictions? who's going where? what feud do you want to see?

Easter Egg Ideas

We have a tradition in our family on Good Friday. Everyone else in my family has the day off, and I work. Also, after that, we go to mom and dads, order fish and chips from Hellas here in Sackville, and paint eggs with the nephews.

Over the years I've been in a rut, thinking of ideas of how to decorate and paint them. So like anybody who has a problem with anything, I took to the internet.

Who knows? With what I found I could end up making some neat eggs, or I'll make a haggard mess trying. Either way, these were some I found on some pages that made me laugh or I thought were just pretty damn cool.

Did any of these inspire you?

Hopefully I'll have pictures from Good Friday up here shortly after....depending on how my eggs go of course ;) jk

You have any ideas for painting eggs? Do you still do it? Do you do anything special on Good Friday or over the Easter weekend? Tell me all about it.

Ghostbusters 3

I'm a sucker for nostalgia and taking trips back to my childhood, and one big thing form my childhood was the Ghostbusters.

Both the movies and cartoons...and the thousands of dollars my parents spent on toys and crap, of course.

Over the past few years I remember hearing talking, more rumors than anything of there being a Ghostbusters 3 movie in the works.

If that's true I'm all for it. So I looked into it trying to find out what I could and I found some promising statements that have me feeling good on the whole deal.

sounds good doesn't it?
Here's another

Sweet! but...what's all this Bill Murray talk? He played Peter Venkman, my favorite Ghostbuster. Is it true that he could not be all for this?

*skip to about 25 seconds in*

Ugh, really Bill? Why?

Hmm, well, I suppose you have your reasons.
But is he going to be the reason it never fully happens?
I need a sign of hope...maybe a sign of hope named Ivan?

Huzzah! We have good news.

Okay first off, let me say, I have no idea what the proper order is on these videos and reports...but by the sounds of it, it will happen with or without Bill. But if you have any updates on this, please let me know

Austin Aries

Austin Aries...honestly how can I write in my blog about this guy? What can I write that hasn't already been said? Not a whole lot, but I just can't get enough of watching this guys matches, and I plan on ordering Evolve 7 to watch him wrestle Jon Moxley before Moxley is WWE bound. Speaking of this match, did you see Aries wicked promo on this match?

Amazing! I only have one question, why the fuck is he not in WWE?

The only answer I can come up with, is that this guy is too much of a professional wrestler. And that really is a damn shame.

Aries is not only a great promo guy, but his matches are always top notch, and he evolves with the business and changes his character to avoid ever being dull (which couldn't happen anyways)

The story goes that he was asked to try out for Tough Enough in the restart of the series and didn't make it on.

How is that possible? Granted he's 5'9" 200 pounds, but it's not like there's guys smaller than that wrestlin...sorry, "entertaining" weekly on RAW.

He's a two time Ring of Honor World Champion and two time ROH Tag Team Champion as part of Generation Next with Roderick Strong, another talent who should be showcased on the main stage of WWE.

Aries had a run in TNA ultimately as Austin Starr, but TNA dropped the ball, I don't care what they say on their end. This guy shold have been kept and not had miscommunications lead to him requesting his release.

He's currently signed with Dragon Gate USA and as I mentioned at the beginning of this he'll be wrestling Jon Moxley tomorrow night at Evolve 7.
For more information on this iPPV and how to watch, go here

Here's a match of his against the now ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards, awesome stuff.

I know the IWC only makes a small part of wrestling fans, but changes have come from the IWC making themselves heard. Let's do what we can to get this guy an opportunity in WWE to showcase his skills and ability on the big stage like he has always deserved.

Follow Austin Aries on Twitter @austinaries
and while you're there you can follow me too @bradfordml ...just sayin heh

Angry Birds

My buddy Kyle posted a video of real life Angry Birds and I wanted to see what other Angry Birds videos there were.

If you don't know what Angry Birds is, it's one of the most popular and addictive iPhone/iPod apps ever. I've seen t-shirts, iPod skins and other things devoted to the game
it's kind of sad but that's just the way it is.

I came across a few other videos that were weird/funny

and the one Kyle had posted

and there you have it, time and money spent on production of these videos based off of a simple iPod app.....wow

Easter Special

I know Easter is over a week away, but I'm kind of an idiot and probably would forget any idea of an Easter post, well, even 5 minutes from now if I weren't to act on it right away.

This was one of my favorite specials as a kid. Buttons and Rusty and the Easter Bunny

Ah that takes me back. But being older now and watching it...this was kind of messed up wasn't it? Buttons and Rusty became so obsessed with the Easter Bunny that they stalked him, broke into his place, and eventually were on trial for murdering the Easter Bunny.

Nothing says Happy Easter like a good murder case I guess.

Do you have any favorite specials? Pass 'em along.

Thank You Edge

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Edge announced his retirement.

In 2003 he suffered a severe neck injury that kept him out for a year.
That injury along with a short list of others since then have continued to nag him throughout his career, and just after defending his World Championship at Wrestlemania 27, the WWE wanted him to get checked out again by a doctor as he stated he was feeling numbness in his arms from time to time.

I know the WWE is scripted, it's television, everything is scripted. But the injuries do happen and fortunately he will not end his career in a wheel chair.

Here's the video of his retirement speech. God knows how long it will be available to watch.

Very, very sad. But he went out on top.

Here's one of my favorite Edge memories. Skip to about 45 seconds in.

Thank you Edge, for all the entertaining moments and letting us be a part of an amazing career.

Until next time, keep it rockin'

Listen To Your Stomach

I always feel a generation gap when I bring up a show at work and I get a lot of people saying, "What's that? I've never heard of it."

One of them was the short lived animated sit-com The Critic.

What gets me though is that this still comes on. Granted it's late night on Teletoon...you know...around 3:30am, but still kids, three letters for you, D-V-R.

I always loved this show and wish it lasted more than 2 seasons.

You can buy the entire series on DVD, which I suggest ;)

If you do, you too, can enjoy classic moments, such as these moments of Jay Sherman interacting with his stomach. ahhh, the memories.

Oh, and for all you fellas who have troubles breaking the ice with girls, I'm here to help.
Here's a sure fire pick up line, compliments of Frank Reynolds.

Patience Is A Virtue

Patience Pt. 1
We have our main event match for Wrestlemania 28, next year in Miami. Yes, that's correct, we had our main event for next year announced before any matches were made for Extreme Rules next month. I'm okay with that.

The dream will come true, The Rock vs. John Cena on the grandest stage of them all.

A lot of people are questioning whether announcing it this early makes sense? And I say yes.

We have something to look forward to, even though it's far off, when the time comes, we will be watching.

Also, The Rock is locked into making some appearances leading up to that. He doesn't need to be there weekly.

Come in once a month at most, screw with Cena and then take off for a bit.

Keep in mind, they used to take a year to build up storylines with the payoff at Mania years ago.

Sure the match wasn't signed that early on, but either way it was in the works for a year in the making.

The Mega-Powers Explode anyone? Yea, and look at the end result. Phenomenal story. It can be done.

Maybe having 14 ppvs a year has made us forget about lengthy storylines. I mean, when the longest time we're used to having for build up is 5-6 weeks, then a year can seem like a life time.

Patience Pt. 2

I'm not new to the world of the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community).

I've been in forums on many different pages throughout the web and one thing I see the most is the topic of "This guy needs to be elevated.", "This guy should be getting pushed, he deserves it.".
Now, with some of the wrestlers who have been talked about it I have agreed with, but people are saying this after the guy has been there for a year or two.

That just doesn't work, because then after it happens, after all the begging for "New Blood", the IWC will turn their back on them like that and the next forum saying "I'm so tired of said wrestler, and he doesn't deserve to be where he is."

The fans both IWC and not, need patience. Look at people like Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels. Those guys paid their dues for a long long period of time, and it made the win that much more because as fans we were there through all the times and knew they could do it, and it was a personal victory for ourselves, as if we were in the ring with them during that huge moment in time of their career.

Given, some pushes just seem right no matter how fast they are (ex. Brock Lesnar) but look at how his pro wrestling career was gone just as fast as it got started. (NOTE: maybe not the best example as his UFC career is absolutely stellar...almost, and I proudly wear Death Clutch shirts)

But if you understand what I'm saying here, maybe next time you go into a forum, you might not be so quick to say that "Johnnie NewBody" should be the WWE Champion one year after he starts, and let his character develop over time and capture us through that evolution.

Until next time, Keep it rockin'.

Wrestlemania 27 Review

Another Wrestlemania has come and gone and moments were made, both good and bad. If you read my predictions you'll see that I wasn't too off, but the ones I got wrong were pretty off haha.

Leaving the United States title match off the card and as a dark match I think is a huge insult to both Daniel Bryan and Sheamus as those two have busted their asses over the year and deserved a spot on the show of shows. At least we got time for those horrible snoop dogg and pee wee herman segments....

I'm not gonna go over the results cause I'm sure this would be the last place you would go for results on it.

I'm going to give highs and lows on each match though, keeping in mind it's only my opinion, and I love hearing your take on stuff so don't be shy in telling me your thoughts.

1. World Title Match - Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

HIGHS - Got the crowd going strong, they were into it no doubt. I loved seeing Edge finally hold a championship leaving Wrestlemania. Good outside help from Christian that the crowd loved (exactly why he deserves main event storylines) All around good paced, fun match up between two great entertainers.

LOWS - It was for one of the main titles and one of the big storylines going into Wrestlemania, and it opened the show. Granted, they needed something strong to get the crowd hot, but the World Title match? Did not like that at all.

2. Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes

HIGHS - They were given good time to tell a good story in the ring. Great showing from both. Rey wasn't at his usual Mania level, but still good and Cody elevated himself to show he's going to be a major player in years to come. There was a good cheer going for Rhodes which shows people are paying attention to him, plus being in Atlanta, his family has history there. Loved everything about this match. Codys delayed, superplex on Rey was spot of the match.

LOWS - Either it's cause his knee is bugging him or he does plan on leaving soon, but something about Rey's performance just wasn't where it normally is, but he didn't phone it in.

3. Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi vs. The Corre

HIGHS - Kofi got on the card

LOWS - Short match, no one got showcased. Just a way to get people a Wrestlemania pay day. The United States title match got bumped off the main card and this ridiculous squash stayed on, ugh.

4. Randy Orton vs. CM Punk

HIGHS - No interference from the Nexus. Great one on one match. Punk is a main event player and needs a lengthy title run now. Orton can hit the RKO out of anywhere, and it's hardly predictable. As a huge fan of both guys, I was on the edge of my seat for this one. I hope this isn't the end of their feud.

LOWS - Should have been higher on the card. These two have been doing tremendous work, building up a great story for weeks and to be this low on the card is insulting to two of the best work horses the WWE has.

5. Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole

HIGHS - Lawler finally gets his Wrestlemania Match. Stone Cold Stunners for Swagger, Booker T and Josh Matthews. JR back on commentary was like an audio orgasm (too much? maybe) Cole's facial expression when his face was pressed against the glass of the Cole Mine had me laughing pretty hard.

LOWS - Dragged out way too long. I started hearing a boring chant from the crowd and I agreed with it. Good thing Austin was there to bring the crowd back.

6. Triple H vs. Undertaker - No Holds Barred

HIGHS - Amazing work and story from both guys. Triple H has another cool entrance, starting with For Whom The Bell Tolls. Triple H's tombstone and arms crossed pin attempt was good. Great show of frustration and effort from both guys. I hope younger talent took notes on how to play to the crowd and draw huge emotions from the audience. Classic.

LOWS - The only thing I would have changed was instead of Triple H tapping, I'd have the ref do the arm lift and just as he's about to try and raise his arm after the third time, it just drops. No tap.

7. John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki vs. LayCool and Dolph Ziggler

HIGHS - Snooki actually trained and showcased some athleticism, I was pleasantly surprised. Morrisons Star Ship Pain to the outisde on Dolph was pretty sick.

LOWS - Dolph and Morrison deserved their own singles match or at least more time in the ring to show what they have. For the second last match of the night at Wrestlemania, Orton and Punk deserved this spot.

8. WWE Championship Match - The Miz (c) vs. John Cena

HIGHS - The Crowd was still into it, even after the emotionally exhausting match between Taker and Triple H. The Miz deserved to retain, even if it happened how it did. The Rock, need I say more?

LOWS - Even though you knew it wouldn't be a clean win, The Miz needs to get a huge clean win soon. The double count out spot was annoying but I suppose it did serve it purpose to get The Rock out there.

I have to give this years Wrestlemania a 7.5 out of 10. There were more highs for me than lows and the highs were amazing, but the lows were haggard.

I miss Money in the Bank and the US Title Match should have been on the main card.

The line up was questionable, but the matches I expected to deliver, did deliver.

Out of the Main card matches I was 5 for 8. Not too shabby
