Hard to believe that this is my 100th entry. What started off as a mandatory weekly assignment for my Communications class in College, is now where I post the most random stuff I can think of. Of course most of it is about pro wrestling, because in case you haven't figured it out by now, I am a pro wrestling nerd and not ashamed of it.
However, now we are into my favourite month of the year. October. Judging by Twitter it seems I am far from alone on that.
You have Thanksgiving (For us Canadians). The leaves change colour. There's a crispness to the air. Also, there is Halloween. Of course at 27, I would look silly dressing up and trick or treating (Don't put it past me though) but what I enjoy most of all are the Halloween specials. I've already watched the Roseanne Halloween specials and the old 1993 classic, Hocus Pocus.
There was one I remember watching as a kid. It was a made for TV movie which involved aliens coming to earth and needing candy. The town they landed in had one candy factory and it was closing out and people would be out of work, and it made a lot of the people in town slightly depressed and sad. I could not for the life of me remember what this movie was called, until the word "Google" came to mind.
It's called "The Last Halloween". Here it is in three parts courtesy of YouTube. If you remember this, I hope you enjoy and if you don't remember it, well I hope you enjoy.

Ready To Ramble.
Where to begin?
Since I've last wrote in here quite a bit has happened in the world of the WWE, but sadly a lot has remained the same.
Very few guys have made it to that next level. Daniel Bryan has proven that he can be handed shit and turn it into gold. His recent storyline with Kane as the dysfunctional tag team champions has me laughing and watching.
Dolph Ziggler has been showing that no matter who he is in the ring with, he will steal the show. He's on the cusp of being a main player, but how can you suspend your disbelief and take him as a guy who could really get the job done when he keeps jobbing to guys? I hope when the time comes to take that next step, that the month or two prior to that he has a dominant win streak going.
Punk and Heyman teaming up was almost inevitable. It's great. Yea, Punk doesn't need Heyman as a mouthpiece, but he gives him that added layer of "heel" which has ended in him getting more boo's from the crowd than he has when he first turned. They compliment each other and from what I've read, they both are very hands on with their story. I trust those two and look forward to where it all ends up.
Speaking of CM Punk and where he ends up. I hope he ends up holding onto the title for more than 365 days. I really like how they keep telling us how long his reign has been. Some people say it's been lackluster. By some people I mean the greasy, fat asses with cheetoh stained sweatpants who live to play fantasy booker. I think he's done a great job with it and now with all the new wrinkles added to his "character", I'm even more excited. I would rather, if they're going to do it, Cena and Rock face each other at the Rumble, and Punk and Rock face off at Wrestlemania. Probably won't happen, but that's all speculation from one guy who is willing to wait and see where it goes and not pretend like I know how the business should be run.
The tag team division is exciting. PTP are charismatic and Primo and Epico are two of the best workers going, who are always entertaining to watch.
Could Ryback be the next IC Champ? Fuck, I hope not.
This entry will probably not reach more than three people and two of them will stumble upon here by accident and probably not make it this far. Either way, I just want to say how happy I am to hear of the recovery and return home of Jerry Lawler. The King has been a big part of my life, as a wrestling fan, since he arrived in WWE back in late 1992. His feud with Bret Hart was a classic and entertaining. He always added something to commentary, especially alongside his best friend, Good Ol' JR. Such a natural, incredible chemistry between those two legends who added so much more to even the greatest match.
It was a scary for all fans watching the night he had his heart attack live on RAW, and much like a lot of people, my mind was not focused on what was on my screen, but wondering, hoping and praying that Jerry was okay. Knowing he's going to make a full on recovery is amazing news and I cannot wait to hear him get back on RAW.

Wrestling in Radio
There's three things in life I compare most moments that happen with. Seinfeld, Simpsons and Professional Wrestling.
With the first two it's usually funny, weird moments that happen or characters that I have met in my life. But with professional wrestling, I make a lot of life comparisons.
No, I have not fought with someone to the point of putting them in a casket, nor turned my back on my best friend just because I wanted to wear a gold belt.
But the journey of life, when it comes to trying to establish a career, like with any career can be related to pro wrestling.
Allow me to make the comparison of Radio and Pro Wrestling.
It all starts with interest and desire. It can start when you're young, you become a fan and have that dream of being the one talking on-air, playing the music, which would be the same as wanting to be the one headlining the event at MSG.
The first step in this road to your dream is education. In both fields there are several schools all over the place, it;s finding one that suits you, whether its cost, location or reputation.
You get educated, and then it's time to pay your dues. In both radio and wrestling it's very rare to start out making even half decent money. In radio you start with the jobs of part time announcing, board operator, street team, etc or even volunteering. And in wrestling you're the guy in the opening match, making barely, if any money. Setting up the ring, the seats, promoting the show that will bring in 50 people to watch if you're lucky. But you take those experiences and you grow from them, adapt them to perfecting your craft.
You've improved to the point where you're getting steady employment. You're an on-air personality in a small market in a town of 1500 people, or maybe you're the promotions coordinator. You're thinking "yes, here we go. School has paid off and now I can spread my wings and get to the next step.".
In wrestling, you've signed on with an independent promotion, maybe it's Chikara, Dragon Gate, or Ring of Honor. Yes I know these guys do wrestle for other promotions as well, but there are contracts signed.
Time has passed, could be months, could be years, everyone is different in how they progress. You move to that bigger market in radio, your talent was recognized and the big fish station just had to have you there, you can help make it a better station in the market because of your talent. You get there, all excited and it can either be the best time of your life, or nothing like you expect and the politics are just too much to deal with, leaving you at a cross roads in life. Is this really what I want to do? Should I go back to the smaller stage? Or just pursue a whole new career all together? It can be frustrating and there might not be a right answer, just whatever you feel is best for you and your family if that is the case.
The same thing happens in wrestling. How many times have there been cases of that superstar of the indies making it to WWE and they just get eaten up by the political B.S. backstage. The games of "you're not a star after all." It's happened way too much, and leaves wrestlers thinking "Well, if you didn't think I was talented enough, why would you bother bringing me on board?" "Maybe I'm not as good as I thought."
It can leave a crippling effect mentally. Too many questions racing through your mind. Too many "what ifs?" It's about patience and passion, but at the same time about what you need to do financially. So many factors.
This was not an entry to tell people how they should pursue or approach a career. I'm just trying to relate two things I love, and showing that if you're confused about something in life, try and relate to something else and hopefully that will help you get a better understanding and help you when it comes time to making any big decisions.
